Anaïs is our molten gold. Anaïs , Mona's houseguest as much as she was her housekeeper. She has no ornaments. Too boney to be called pretty. Too tall to be called petite, but not tall enough to be called “grande”. Long, dark brown hair curled beyond her delicate, childlike, almost perfectly round ears. Anaïs is skinny, almost breastless, like a child woman, but she is not frail. She is rugged, dark skinned, strong enough to broke a bone with her bear hands. Her childlike ears, only, are delicate, and there is the gentle way she looks at you, at people and things the same, molten gold flowing in her brown eyes. And, if anyone could chop vegetable with grace that is Anaïs . We all agree, this is Anaïs , beauty beyond ornaments, graceful simplicity, when cooking and washing dishes as well as when reading poetry...
